Retired Members and eligible dependents under the age of 65 are eligible to participate in the Kentucky Employees Health Plan (KEHP). KEHP is a self-funded plan that offers health insurance to nearly 294,000 employees, retirees, or beneficiaries.

Retiree health insurance plan options for 2025 are summarized in the Benefit Selection Guide attached below. Premiums for 2025 are unchanged and the same as 2024.
Depending on the members' individual service, costs may or may not increase. JFRS plans cover a percentage of premiums, dependent upon the member's years of service. Any balance remaining will be deducted from monthly benefits.

2025 Living Well Promise
All plans for 2025 require the completion of a Biometric Screening or online Health Assessment prior to July 1, 2025. Members earn up to $480 a year ($40 a month) in premium discounts by completing the Promise.
NOTE: New retirees after July 1 will have 90 days to complete the LivingWell Promise.
If a member does not complete the Promise, they will be responsible for paying a $40 per month incentive.
If a member enrolled in a LivingWell plan during the 2024 plan year did not fulfill the LivingWell Promise, a $40 monthly assessment will be deducted from the member's monthly benefit allowance during the 2025 plan year.
