
Retired Members and eligible dependents under the age of 65 are eligible to participate in the Kentucky Employees Health Plan (KEHP). KEHP is a self-funded plan that offers health insurance to nearly 294,000 employees, retirees, or beneficiaries.
2026 Plan Year Details:
Retiree health insurance plan options for 2026 are summarized in the Benefit Selection Guide attached below. Premiums for 2026 have increased 12-16% depending on the level of plan and coverage.
Depending on the members' individual service, costs may or may not increase. JFRS plans cover a percentage of premiums, dependent upon the member's years of service. Any balance remaining will be deducted from monthly benefits.

2026 Living Well Promise
All plans for 2026 require the completion of a online Health Assessment prior to July 1, 2026. Members earn up to $480 a year ($40 a month) in premium discounts by completing the Promise. If a member does not complete the Promise, they will be responsible for paying a $40 per month incentive during the 2027 Plan Year.
LivingWell Promise Help Guide
If a member enrolled in a LivingWell plan during the 2025 plan year did not fulfill the LivingWell Promise, a $40 monthly assessment will be deducted from the member's monthly benefit allowance during the 2026 plan year.
