Retired Members and eligible dependents under the age of 65 are eligible to participate in the Kentucky Employees Health Plan (KEHP).  KEHP is a self-funded plan that offers health insurance to nearly 294,000 employees, retirees, or beneficiaries.​

2024 Plan Year ​​​Details:​

Retiree health insurance plan options for 2024 remain unchanged from 2023, however, premiums did increase approximately 10-14% depending on the plan selected.

Depending on the members' individual service, costs may or may not increase.  JFRS plans cover a percentage of premiums, dependent upon the member's years of service.  Any balance remaining will be deducted from monthly benefits.​

2024​ Living Wel​​l Promise

​​All plans for 2024 require the completion of a Biometric Screening or online Health Assessment prior to July 1, 2024.  Members earn up to $480 a year ($40 a month) in premium discounts by completing the Promise.

NOTE:  New retirees after July 1 will have 90 days to complete the LivingWell Promise.  

If a member does not complete the Promise, they will be responsible for paying a $40 per month incentive.  

If a member enrolled in a LivingWell plan during the 2022 plan year did not fulfill the LivingWell Promise, a $40 monthly assessment will be deducted from the member's monthly benefit allowance during the 2024 plan year.

Retiree health insurance plan options in 2022 were unchanged from the prior year, however, premiums did increase approximately 3% across all plans offered. ​ Members total cost, if any, was dependent on their total service.  JFRS plans cover a percentage or portion of premiums, dependent upon the member's years of service and tier of benefits.  Any portion of premiums paid by members was deducted from monthly benefits.​
